As you may well know, the children will sit their SATs examinations in May. The SATs assess the children’s attainment and progress in GPS, Reading and maths. Children will also have their writing assessed through teacher assessment which is supported by the local authority.
It is imperative that you support your child with their learning this year and that all the children in Year 6 are reading, for pleasure, for at least 30 minutes a day. It is recommended that parents take an active role in facilitating this and listen to their children read as often as possible to ensure they are understanding the texts they are reading.
Throughout the year, children will receive SATs revision books to support their English and maths knowledge and understanding. They would greatly benefit from any support they can get at home.
You will receive letters throughout the year regarding important dates, boosters, trips and Year 6 meetings, so please ensure you check your children's school bag regularly.
